Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, so go see what other authors decided to write about for this week’s prompt – TV!
If you follow me on twitter, you’ll know that I am quite the TV show marathoner. I tweeted my way through my Gilmore Girls rewatch during early summer, and Netflix and I are very good friends. This is partially because I didn’t own a TV until May of this year. These are ten of my favorite shows to marathon, because they’re just that good. You’ll notice that it isn’t tuesday anymore, but I had to post this month’s TBR yesterday
The West Wing
I think The West Wing might be my actual favorite show ever. It’s wonderful. I can’t begin to explain how much each character touched my heart, or how much I want to be C.J. Cregg when I grow up.I love the fast pace, the way they’re all so honest about who they are, the drama….I can’t think of an episode that I don’t want to watch.
Gilmore Girls
I watched this during college, and loved it.I rewatched it earlier this year, and I still loved it. I cannot wait for A Year In The Life to come out in November, so that we can get the right ending from the original writers.
Castle
This one is only available on ABC’s website or Hulu with a paid subscription, but I own all but the last season because I actually watched this one while it was airing on TV. I started it because I loved Nathan Fillion, but I fell in love with the entire team of detectives, until the last season. They did some things that I would not have done, but it is over and nobody’s dead, so I’ll accept it. I can’t wait to see where they go next.
Parenthood
I will admit that I started this right before it finished on TV, and I started watching it at first because of Lauren Graham, but much like Castle, I fell in love with them all.
Jane the Virgin
I can’t wait for this to come back in October! I marathoned this in August, after my sister had been bugging me about it for probably a year. It’s really good and beautiful.
Say Yes To The Dress: Atlanta
The last season of this that I watched literally every episode had someone crying because they’d lost their mom, which drove me to tears every time because it was right after we’d lost my best friend’s mom. It gets more emotional than you’d think, so be careful if you’re just looking for something light and fluffy. I also like that Atlanta gets more personal than the NY version
Grace & Frankie
This is a newish show, but it’s really good. The relationships in it are absolutely wacky, but it’s funny and real, and I think you should watch it.
Friends
I hadn’t watched Friends, and realized that it was something I’d missed out on, so I marathoned it during college between classes and on weekends.
Psych
I watched this for the first time in the beginning of the year, and it was just hilarious. I laughed so much while I watched this, my family thought I was having a fit.
Great British Bake Off (Baking Show for us heathens)
Good, wholesome baking of delicious dishes, without all the yelling and competition of most american shows? Yes please. I hope they continue putting these on Netflix, because they’re addictingly wonderful.
These are some of my favorite shows. What do you love to marathon? I’d love some recommendations, since all of these shows are over now. What are you watching this fall?
I used to love Parenthood but my faves were Joel and Julia and they destroyed them 🙁
I loved Joel and Julia too, and I think the way they ended the series was in a good place for them. I can see the issues they had being valid, especially with them being who they are. Did you finish the series?
Yeah, they ended up together but they destroyed Joel’s character, I don’t know, I hate when they make them behave like that, he was such a great guy and bfff…
I really need to watch the Great British Baking Show – it sounds like such a feel good one!
You absolutely should! It’s so relaxing and fun and artistic! And the hosts are hilarious!
Ha! I am watching The Great British Bake-Off as I type this. What a fun show, although I do not like BREAD WEEK because I feel Paul Hollywood is kind of a jerk on BREAD WEEK. I may skip future BREAD WEEKs.
Have you watched Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries? It’s a delight, and it’s on Netflix.
YES IT’S SO GOOD I NEED SEASON 3!
Omg..you didn’t own a TV until this year? OK, I’m very happy for you now. 🙂
I’m so glad to watch Jane The Virgin. I’ll be sure to chat with you about it on Twitter when Season 3 airs. 😀
I did a lot of tv watching online but I was living in a dorm, and broke, so I didn’t actually have a tv! Its gonna be a nice change!
Gilmore Girls is one of my favorites. I like you added say yes to the dress Atlanta, I love that show!
