Top Ten Female Character Names I’d Give My Kids (or characters)

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, so go see what other authors decided to write about for this week’s prompt!

I have always loved names of all sorts, starting from a very young age when literally no one could pronounce my name. My name is Ceillie. It’s pronounced like Kaylee.  I wanted to change my name until I was almost 16 because I got teased about my name so often. I still get teased about my name, and three people in my memory have ever correctly pronounced my name after reading it the first time. Three. Ever. Several of my relatives still can’t spell my name, and I’m 23. It’s a mess.

When I was thinking about changing my name, I would have chosen is actually the first one on my list here. I love the name Katherine, and I still have my Kit American Girl doll. I also still have Felicity and Josephine, but Kit was who I fell in love with when I was younger, so she’s the one that came with me from my parents’ house. Anyway, back to my actual list of names. I cheated with two of these – one is a video game character, and one is an actual person, but I think you’ll forgive me, since it is who it is.

Katherine “Kit” – Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare (also American Girl)

Keladry  – Protector of the Small series by Tamora Pierce

Alanna – Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce

Anne & Diana – Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery

Cassandra – Dragon Age: Inquisition

Harper – Harper Lee

Corinne – Iron Cast by Destiny Soria

Paula -Cybele’s Secret by Juliet Marillier

Mae – Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead

What are some of your favorites and why? Talk to me about it in the comments, folks!

    1. Yeeeeees. I loooove Cassandra I was super pissed that she was the compulsively straight one because it means I have to play as a male character to romance her. It will happen one of these days when I buy DAI for myself.
