Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, so go see what other authors decided to write about for this week’s prompt – books on the ocean!
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt was very open – 10 books set in X setting! The choice of setting was up to us, and since I’m having some wanderlust at the moment, I decided to focus on books that are set on the ocean! This means boats, islands, the beach, etc.
“A sailor chooses the wind that takes the ship from a safe port. Ah, yes, but once you’re abroad, as you have seen, winds have a mind of their own. Be careful, Charlotte, careful of the wind you choose.” -Zachariah, True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi
Bloody Jack (series) by L.A. Meyer
Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
Nobody’s Princess by Esther M. Friesner
The Odyssey by Homer
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
The Sea of Trolls by Nancy Farmer
Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis
The Waves by Virginia Woolf
The Prince of Mist by Carl Ruis Zafon
Clearly, I need to read more books set on the ocean, since I was reaching with a few of these. Also the list is pretty white. What are your favorite books based at the beach or on the ocean?
I haven’t read many of these. I like that you did on the Ocean. Haven’t seen that one yet this TTT. Going to have to vote for The Odyssey as my favorite 🙂
TTT- Beam Me Up!
What a great topic – don’t think I’ve seen ‘oceans’ on any other list.
Lynn 😀
I haven’t been to the beach this summer, and I wanna go SO BADLY! Thus, this list was born.
This is a great choice for a list, quite unique one.
Thanks!
Well, it wasn’t MY thing, but I read about two-thirds of a book about diving (among other things) called The Veins of the Ocean, by Patricia Engel. So that’s one?
Thanks, Jenny! I’ll look into it!
