Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, so go see what other authors decided to write about for this week’s prompt!
There were so many good books in 2016 that there was absolutely no way for me to read them all. SO, here’s the ones that have caught my eye and that I plan to read in 2017!
Perfect Liars by Kimberly Reid
A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab
The Secret of a Heart Note by Stacey Lee
Not Your Sidekick by C.B. Lee
Latin@ Rising: An Anthology of Latin@ Science Fiction and Fantasy by Matthew David Goodwin
Unburied Fables by Tiffany Rose
Of Fire & Stars by Audrey Coulthurst
The Bone Sparrow by Zana Fraillon
Rani Patel in Full Effect by Sonia Patel
Shadowshaper by Daniel José Older
What 2016 releases do you plan to read this year? Talk to me about them in the comments!
I didn’t get to these either! I’m hoping to start V.E. Schwab’s series soon though.
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
I really enjoyed the A Darker Shade of Magic, but I need to read the next one before the third comes out next month!!
I had JoJo Moyes new short story collection on my TBR in 2016 and I read it this past weekend. Win! I did read a few of the new releases I wanted to in 2016 but nothing close to the piles of books I would have wanted to get to 🙂

Can any of us ever get to reading all of the piles of books we want to read? I’m glad you were able to finish the short story collection!
OMG I’m sure I’ve raved about Not Your Sidekick to you before, so I will refrain here! I’m going to try and get to Swing Time, Of Fire and Stars, and Homegoing at some point this year (hopefully).
Yes!! I’m hoping to read all of them! You’re gonna love Homegoing!!
Very cool list!! I also need to make one, OMG book pile! It has a bunch of VERY long ones too, like Death’s End by Liu Cixin and Version Control by Dexter Palmer.
Latin@ Rising is a 2017 release I think? It just went out sooner to KS backers and preorderers? Amazon has Jan 1 2017 as the release date. (It is also on my list 😀 I’ve already read a few stories from it.)
These were just the ones that I thought of off the top of my head. There are so many more! One of the problems with blogging is that the list keeps growing!
I figured that the KS date was the publishing date, but I might be mistaken. I’ve heard great things about it from everyone who’s read it so far!
A Gathering of Shadows is so good! Hope you enjoy it 🙂

Not Your Sidekick is the only one from your list I’ve heard of. A lot of book bloggers seemed to love The Sun is Also a Star, and The Mothers so I think they’re worth checking out
Yes! Both of those are also on my list, but they’re not as high up as these ones are. I hope you’ll check these out!
Ooh, The Bone Sparrow for me as well! I hadn’t heard of it until fairly late in the year, when Jill reviewed it over at Rhapsody in Books, but it sounds just wonderful. And sadly, it sounds more topical than ever with what’s happened to the Rohingya in Myanmar over the past few months.
Not Your Sidekick is on my list too! I have high hopes for this book and am looking forward to reading a superhero story. Haven’t done so in a while.
I… still haven’t read this. BUT I really want to this summer! I hope you enjoy it!
I still need to read A Gathering of Shadows! Also Not Your Sidekick is on my TBR too, it’s popping up all over the place and it sounds fantastic. Seeing this post made me go back and look at mine to see which books I’d listed and how well my progress was going – I’ve so far read 3 books which were on my list and I’ve got books like The Muse and The Essex Serpent still to go!
I’ve read three, too! Secret of a Heart Note, Unburied Fables and Shadowshaper! 🙂 We can do it!
