So, yesterday was the sixth anniversary of CandidCeillie being in existence. Which is WILD. In honor of that, I’m doing the tag that my friend Wendy created and tagged me in!
Rules:
- Credit the original creator, whatthelog!
- Answer the questions!
- Tag as many or as few people as you like!
Why did you create your blog?
I started CandidCeillie after a trip to a journalism conference in New York City. I learned that it was a boon to every young journalist to have a blog of their own, and thus began an adventure!
When did you start your blog?
I posted my first post on March 14, 2013!
What was your first post about?
I was mostly introducing myself and talking about the conference I went to.
It then tended to have months between posts talking about what I’d been doing through my classes.
Have you had any significant design or name changes?
No name changes, but I guarantee I’ve gone through at least four design changes. I’m terrible about changing my layout on a regular basis, the way I have with everything I can change layouts on since my myspace days.
What has been the biggest change to your blog’s content?
Well, it started as a journalism blog, then morphed into a personal blog for a while, and then became a book blog… and now it’s kind of a combination of all three! Go figure! I’m still the same big old nerd, though!
Who or what has been the biggest influence on your blogging journey?
Honestly, my friend Sinead! She has been a huge inspiration for me and always helps me to figure out why I’m struggling with something. You should check out her blog, Huntress of Diverse Books!
If before you started you could look at your blog now, what would surprise you the most?
How long it’s lasted! I’ve always been notorious for picking up hobbies and then dropping them whenever I get bored. I may have dropped the blog a few times over the years, but I always came back to them.
What personal milestone have you hit that makes you the proudest?
I’m honestly proudest of starting Let’s Fox About It. Between my experience running this and my various jobs in journalism, I am well suited to what I’ve started over there.
What do you see next for your blog?
Honestly? I’m not sure. It’s gonna get a little more personal by necessity. Between being the main contributor for LFAI, my fiction and my freelance work, I’m incredibly busy, but I love being a blogger.
Oh my god! I didn’t expect to see this, and the shout-out means so much to me, Ceillie.
Also, your anniversary is on pi day! No more awesomer day to have it, I think. It was fascinating to read about the beginnings of your blog – I didn’t know that it used to be a journalism blog!
