I received an eARC of Transcendent 2 from Bogi Takács, the editor, in exchange for an honest review.
This anthology is a compilation of the year’s best trans speculative fiction.
I really loved the hopefulness of A. Merc Rustad’s This is Not A Wardrobe Door. I loved the mention of Narnia, which was something that most readers would think of when reading it. I loved the happy ending.
I also really enjoyed the ethical discussion that was the center of The L7 Gene bye Jeanne Thornton.
The Pigeon Summer by Brit Mandelo had absolutely beautiful prose, and so clearly showed the grief that J was feeling throughout the story. It was heartbreaking and stunning.
I would love to see an expanded version, or another episode of The Road, The Valley and the Beasts by Keffy R.M. Kehrli. The same with Sky and Dew by Holly Heisey.
As always, I love love love RoAnna Sylver’s writing. Happy Regards was a delight to read – sweet family fun, a missing cat, and a birthday, with Parole’s weirdness tying it all together.
This is a story full of beautifully written trans stories, and my life is better for reading it. You want this. Pick it up on Amazon. You won’t regret it.
