I have a confession to make. I haven’t finished reading any of my books that I have for review. But, I have read several other things that I want to share with you in this week’s episode of Monday Mini-Reviews!
Taste of Marrow – Sarah Gailey
Taste of Marrow is the second and final book in Sarah Gailey’s American Hippo series. Y’all know I loved listening to River Of Teeth, and I loved Taste of Marrow even more. It is less of a straightforward heist story, allowing Gailey to explore the realities for the characters we began to love in River of Teeth.
I can’t say much about the plot without spoiling it, but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Taste of Marrow. I kind of want to read a domestic AF sequel of them doing what they talked about doing at the end of this novel. You can pick up a copy on Amazon or Indiebound
Iron and Magic – Ilona Andrews
I wasn’t sure whether or not I would enjoy this spin off of Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series. To call Hugh an unlikable hero would probably be the understatement of the century. Hugh is a bastard and is unapologetic for it.
However, Iron and Magic surprised me with how much I did like it. for me, the biggest draw was definitely the heroine, Elara. I loved that she refused to take any of Hugh’s shit and that she didn’t have to force him to be a better human being. He did that all on his own once he escaped Roland’s influence, which was awesome. I’m interested to finish the Kate Daniels series knowing what I know now, and to see what the future holds in this universe.
