I’m Moving Out!

I’ve heard it said that “Virginia is for Lovers“, and while that may be the case, Virginia is also where I’ve chosen to take my next step forward. That’s right, folks! I’m moving to Virginia!

I have been offered, and accepted, a position in Danville, Virginia with the Danville Register & Bee! I will be starting my new job on May 11, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. The job is full time with benefits, and will be a local government reporter position. I’m thrilled to be getting back into the field and learning a ton about Danville and Virginia.

Since Danville is about 2 hours from where I live in North Carolina, that means that I will be moving out of state to an entirely new city, but not exactly all on my own. Of course, my cat and fish will be coming with me, because what is a house without a pet? My boyfriend Chris will also be joining me this summer! This will be our first real place together with no roommates. It will be just us and the animals, which we are so looking forward to. I took advantage of the larger space that we’ll have and a great deal from someone on Facebook, and upgraded my fish tank to a 40 gallon tank, which will be so much fun to set up and stock!

We haven’t found a place yet, but I’ve got a couple of trips planned so that I can see some of the rentals in the area in person, meet with some realtors, and get to know Danville a little bit better before I officially move.

Of course, moving out of our parents’ house also means that we need a ton of stuff – half of which I probably won’t even think about until we get there and I really need something. That was the way it was with my college apartment, even with that coming mostly furnished. My extended family is being so amazing and offering us furniture that they don’t want any more, and we’re buying ourselves some things that we like as well. Putting this house together is definitely going to be an adventure!

This does mean that I might not be posting reviews every week, since I’ll be busy packing and prepping to move out, but I will do my best to get something out for you guys! Once I get started, I’ll also share some of my articles here with you guys – maybe you’ll find them interesting, maybe you won’t, but they’ll be here. 🙂

What are your favorite and least favorite parts of moving? What did you completely forget to buy until you got to your new place? Talk to me about it!
