Spring break is finally here, and I am unbelievably grateful to be home. I love the mountains, and my job and all, but I adore being at home with my folks. So far, I’ve done nothing but sleep in, visit my grandparents and avail myself of my mother’s amazing food. That being said, I have a very exciting afternoon planned for tomorrow.
For one of my communication classes at school, we are required to ‘shadow’ someone in a profession that we might like to do someday. As most of my experience is in newspaper, and that requires the least amount of actual socialization, I tried asking at a few of the papers near home as well as a few broadcast news stations, and the one that I have ended up doing my shadowing experience with is News14!
I’ll be following a general assignment reporter around as well as the assignment manager while I’m there, so I’m really excited about this. It’ll be a really great chance to see if I will actually enjoy working in broadcast news, since I have absolutely no experience in broadcast as of right now.
The woman who I’ll be following, Heather Moore, seems really nice, and seems really eager to help me learn the ways of the business, which is great. I can’t wait to share how it goes! 🙂
