Hello, dear readers, and welcome back to CandidCeillie! Today I’d like to introduce you to Sara Wolf, author of the Lovely Vicious series and Bring Me Their Hearts through Entangled.
Zera is a Heartless – the immortal, unageing soldier of a witch. Bound to
the witch Nightsinger ever since she saved her from the bandits who murdered her family, Zera longs for freedom from the woods they hide in. With her heart in a jar under Nightsinger’s control, she serves the witch unquestioningly.
Until Nightsinger asks Zera for a Prince’s heart in exchange for her own, with one addendum; if she’s discovered infiltrating the court, Nightsinger will destroy her heart rather than see her tortured by the witch-hating nobles.
Crown Prince Lucien d’Malvane hates the royal court as much as it loves him – every tutor too afraid to correct him and every girl jockeying for a place at his darkly handsome side. No one can challenge him – until the arrival of Lady Zera. She’s inelegant, smart-mouthed, carefree, and out for his blood. The Prince’s honor has him quickly aiming for her throat.
So begins a game of cat and mouse between a girl with nothing to lose and a boy who has it all.
Winner takes the loser’s heart. (via Goodreads)
Hello Sara! Welcome to the blog! Tell us a little bit about yourself!
Hey everyone! I’m Sara Wolf! I love chocolate cake, my two terrible goblins masquerading as house cats, video games, and love/hate romances.
What was your last five star read? What made it a five star read?
I absolutely LOVED Children of Blood and Bone – the world was so viscerally tangible and beautiful.
Have you always wanted to be writer or is this a recent development in your life?
I’ve always wanted to be a writer! I sort of fell into it – in high school I wrote a ton of fanfiction and eventually branched out to original stuff, which took about nine or so books before I got published.
What are your favorite writing tools?
This might sound a little bizarre, but I have this little plushie I need at my side, so when I zone out or start to get off track by going on Twitter or something, his little face reminds me I should be working!
What authors are auto-buys for you?
I love N.K. Jemisin – I’m currently working through her backlog and definitely plan to auto-buy anything she comes out with from now on.
What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever been given?
The best piece of writing advice I’ve been given is write what you wanna read, for sure. If you follow that rule, you can never go wrong.
What do you like to do when you aren’t reading, writing or editing?
Video games are my vice – I’m a huge JPRG fan. I also like baking; it’s very soothing after being alone with your words and thoughts all day.
Who are your top 5 influences as an author?
Terry Prachett is a big one – the Tiffany Aching series is everything. Anne Bishop (Black Jewels is EVERYTHING), Octavia Butler, Megan McCafferty’s Jessica Darling series, and Courtney Summers for her amazing leading ladies.
If you could tell the whole world one thing about yourself, what would that be?
I’m nothing special, but it’s certainly special that I lived.
