Hello friends! I’m back today with another author interview with one of my faves – Maria Hollis! You may remember I interviewed her a few months ago here, but today we have all new questions since she is putting out an all new novella, Ripped Pages!
~*~
Since you’ve recently written a Rapunzel retelling in Ripped Pages, what is your favorite fairytale? Why?
Beauty and the Beast has always been my favorite since I was a child. I relate a lot to Belle about not belonging to the place she’s in and how people are always saying she’s too different from them. I just love her personality and her values.
What are your last three top reads?
Cheerleaders from Planet X, a fun F/F NA Scifi book by Lyssa Chiavari. Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp, an intense YA thriller about two best friends who live in a strange small town. And Carolyn for Christmas by Lucy Carey, an adorable enemies to lovers F/F adult novella.
What are your favorite tropes when you’re reading?
I love friends to lovers and enemies to friends to lovers. I’m also always looking for more F/F novels about celebrities who need to date in secret, but not because of their sexuality, just because the famous person doesn’t want people to annoy the common girl. I don’t know why this is such a thing that I love.
What are your least favorite tropes when reading?
I can’t stand any kind of cheating or when characters never communicate. There’s nothing that makes me more nervous than reading a couple making the same mistakes over and over again instead of sitting down and discussing their problems.
What is your favorite food? Why?
Pizza and French fries! I’m not sure why? I just love unhealthy food haha
What is your biggest pet peeve?
When people move things around my bedroom. Or when anyone enters my bedroom at all when I’m in the middle of an important writing session.
What do you always keep on you?
My phone and my documents.
If you were in need of comforting, what would be the best thing that someone could do for you?
The best thing to distract me in bad days is to take me out of the house or just watch a movie together. Food and movies always keep me relaxed but I also love just spending time with friends. Good food and good company is all I need.
What is your most treasured possession?
My laptop because my whole life is on it!
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I’d love to be able to ignore the little voice in my head telling me that no matter what I do I’ll never be good enough. My bad self-esteem keeps me from daring myself more often. But I’m working on it!
