I love me a good spreadsheet. I use spreadsheets for nearly everything in my life. When it comes to blogging, I use them for everything from tracking my own reading to figuring out what kinds of posts I want to write to seeing what I need to read next to stay on top of my pile of ARCs.

Reading Tracker

My reading tracker is a little bit intense. I track everything from the title to page count to the diversity of each book.

I try to make sure that I’m reading a wide variety of things every year, and that includes making sure that I’m reading books by people who are different for me in a lot of ways. To keep myself accountable for it, of course, I track it.

I have it set to track four different categories for diversity – People of Color, Queer Identity, Neurodivergent and Disabled.

I track whether this label applies to the:

  • Author (Author)
  • Main Character (MC)
  • Love Interest (LI)
  • Side Character (SC)

I also tried whether a book needs content warnings and a link to my review for easy access later on. all of this helps me to create a review that is comprehensive and accurate to my reading experience. However, if you get behind on it it can be a bit of a pain to catch up on.

ARC TBR

If you’re anything like me, you get review copies of books from all over the place – Netgalley, Edelweiss, in the mail, and from authors. It can be really difficult to stay on top of it if you don’t keep track of the deadlines for each.

That’s why, in 2018, I created a TBR spreadsheet that tracks where I got review copies, when they publish, when they are archived, where I plan to review them, and whether I’ve finished them or not.

After you fill out this spreadsheet, you can then sort by deadline no matter when something comes in so you are constantly reorganizing your list. I like to sort by archive date because those deadlines give me a lot of anxiety when I’m blogging, but you can sort by whatever works for you.

I also give you another place to track your ARC reviews in this spreadsheet, because I like to be able to see everything at a glance. Plus, if a publisher ask you for review that he forgot to send in, it makes it easy to find.
